Frequently Asked Questions
Group Therapy is an evidence-based method of supporting personal growth, healing and well-being. It provides a context to learn and grow in a supportive environment where you can try out new behaviours. Facilitation by experienced mental health professionals provides a safe container.
Group Therapy is an excellent alternative to individual psychotherapy that may be cost prohibitive.
Our group is carefully designed with a balance of sharing, learning and experiential practices. We address various learning styles and include multiple modalities to provide a wholistic experience: Mind. Body. Spirit. You will move. You will find stillness. You will be loud and you will be quiet. You will laugh.... and yes, you will likely cry. You will come away with newfound wisdom.
We emphasize relationship. We encourage developing the relationship with yourself, cultivating new relationships in the group, and discovering an expanded relationship with life.
We emphasize becoming wise. In addition to information and techniques we draw on wisdom keepers from various spiritual traditions to tap into the depth and meaning of life as an important source of grounding. Through this group, we point to the wisdom you have inside, and encourage you to learn to trust it.
We KNOW you can experience more ease, meaning and joy. It’s available to you... if you choose it.
Many insurance plans will cover this type of service. You will get a receipt for payment that specifies this is therapy provided by a licensed professional (Registered Social Worker). If you’d like to be sure before payment, you can contact your insurance carrier to verify.
To ensure your spot in the group, we ask for a deposit of 1/2 the fee ($240) upfront. This will be applied as a credit to you account. After 3 sessions, the remainder of the fee will be due. If you need alternate arrangements, please discuss with Colleen or Jen.
Unfortunately, we do not have make-up sessions at this time. We will provide you with any materials and exercises we might have covered during the week you missed.
